Is Cosmos the same as Azure Cosmos DB?
No, Cosmos for Business Central is not Azure Cosmos DB. Azure Cosmos DB is a Microsoft database service for developers. Cosmos, from Cosmos Data Technologies, is a reporting tool for Business Central users.
Can Cosmos report across several companies and other data?
Yes, Cosmos can report across several Business Central companies and other data. It brings your companies, NAV or GP history, and data from Dataverse, Azure SQL, Excel files or Microsoft Fabric into one model for reporting. Does Cosmos work with Power BI?

Where is our data held when we use Cosmos?
When you use Cosmos, your data is held in your own dedicated Cosmos environment and database on Microsoft Azure, run by Cosmos, so there is no infrastructure for you to manage. Access is controlled down to report, folder and row level.
Can Cosmos work with Microsoft Fabric?
Yes, Cosmos can work with Microsoft Fabric. It can use Fabric as a data source, including Business Central data mirrored into Fabric, so you can add a Fabric platform later and keep the reports your teams rely on. Read our post What is new in Cosmos for Business Central in 2026.
