Why we backed Pyramid, and what makes it such a strong platform

A proud look back from the partner who knew it best. What Pyramid did exceptionally well, and why ServiceNow buying it confirms what we saw in 2024.

We are proud to partner with Pyramid Analytics, and were named its partner of the year in 2024. Here is what makes Pyramid such a strong platform, and why its move to ServiceNow makes it stronger still.

We cover the practical side of this in what we do with Pyramid Analytics, and how East of England Co-op adopted Pyramid looks at a closely related question.

We invest in our Pyramid partnership for a simple reason: it is an excellent platform, and it lets us give clients something many tools cannot. People sometimes ask what drew us to it. The answer is the quality of what Pyramid does, the seriousness of its thinking about analytics, and the results it delivers for the right organisation. Earning partner of the year in 2024 reflected real work on our side, and a platform well worth getting behind on Pyramid's.

A unified platform, by design

Most analytics setups are stitched together from separate parts: one tool to prepare the data, another to model it, another to analyse it, another again for anything resembling data science. Pyramid brings those together into a single, unified platform, with natural-language querying and a clear focus on the decision rather than the chart. That is a different and ambitious shape, and a powerful one. The seams disappear, and so do many of the errors and handoffs that hide in them.

What it does brilliantly

Three strengths stand out. The unified pipeline removes the gaps between preparation, modelling and analysis, so the whole flow lives in one governed place. The semantic layer gives an organisation one agreed set of definitions, so everyone, and now every agent, can trust the same numbers. And the natural-language querying lets people who would never write a query get answers for themselves. These are not gimmicks. They are well-built solutions to real problems, and they work.

What we admire most is the semantic layer: one agreed source of meaning that people and agents can rely on.

Where it shines

Our job is to match the right tool to the right client, and where Pyramid fits, it shines. Organisations that want one governed pipeline rather than a shelf of separate tools, that value a decision-led approach, or that need strong natural-language access find Pyramid hard to beat. Clients who adopt it get a platform that punches well above its profile, and we are glad to put our name to it.

What partnering closely teaches you

A partnership is more than a logo on a website. Earning partner of the year means our people know Pyramid deeply, build real solutions with it, and stand behind it with clients. That kind of relationship teaches you a platform's character, not just its feature list, and it leaves you with real respect for the people who build it. The care taken over the semantic layer, the seriousness of the natural-language work, the refusal to treat analytics as a gallery of charts: these are the marks of a platform built by people who understand the problem.

Stronger with ServiceNow behind it

Pyramid's move to ServiceNow is good news, and we read it as a strength. The platform now has one of the best-resourced companies in enterprise software behind it, a bigger stage, and a clear direction: insight delivered straight into the workflows where decisions get made. For a platform we already rate this highly, that backing is exciting. It means more investment, more reach, and a future where Pyramid's ideas about decision intelligence reach far more people. It also means the partnership we value has a longer runway ahead of it, not a shorter one.

What it changes for the people who use it

The part we enjoy most is watching what a unified, decision-led platform does for the people in a business. Analysts stop hopping between tools and lose the gaps where work goes wrong. Business users who used to wait days for an answer start asking their own questions in plain language and getting them in minutes. Leaders get numbers everyone agrees on, because they come from one governed layer rather than five competing spreadsheets. That broadening of who can take part in analysis, without giving up governance, is a hard thing to deliver, and it is one of the reasons we rate Pyramid as highly as we do.

What we would do this week

If decision intelligence is new to you, the simplest place to start is the question Pyramid is built around. Where in your business does someone look at a number and then have to act on it manually? Name a few of those moments. They are where a unified, decision-led platform earns its keep, and they are a good way to see what Pyramid is really for.
